An axle or drive-through scale gives you a vehicle weight without building a full weighbridge.
Axle and drive-through scales are for production and trading sites that need continuous, accurate total vehicle weights — and with them the ability to check, record and archive the real weights of the products being hauled.
The difference is in how the weighing happens. A lorry drives across a drive-through scale; on an axle scale it has to stop. That also drives the cost: a drive-through scale needs two weighing modules (one axle), an axle scale needs four (both axles weighed together).
The scale is electronic, mounted on strain-gauge load cells. The cells are loaded directly, with no lever gear, and their signal is carried to the measuring and indicating electronics.
