Big-bag scales are used to fill large-capacity bulk bags accurately with granular components.
Big-bag scales fill large-capacity bulk bags accurately with granular components such as cement, magnesite, seed or sugar.
The bags hang on a weighing frame connected to the structure through strain-gauge load cells. The frame is height-adjustable to suit the bags in use, so one machine handles several bag formats.
Material is brought to the scale by screw conveyors or vibrating feeders, depending on how freely the material flows and how dusty it is.
This decision has to be made before the scale is designed, because it changes how it is built:
If the filled bags are sold by weight, you need the first. If they only serve internal records and production control, the second is enough.
| Capacity / interval | 500 kg / 0.2 kg · 1,000 kg / 0.5 kg · 1,500 kg / 1 kg · 2,000 kg / 1 kg |
|---|---|
| Accuracy class | III and IIII |
| Legal-for-trade (CE M) | used in direct payment transactions, accuracy ± one interval |
| Process instrument (CE) | measurements unrelated to payment, accuracy ± 0.1 % of full scale |
| Weighing frame | adjustable height to suit the bags used |
