The cell is the bottom-most element of every scale. We make our own, which is why we can build a scale where a catalogue cell does not fit.
We have made strain-gauge load cells for many years, and it is the reason we can deliver weighing applications that cannot be assembled from catalogue parts. The designs draw on our own strain-gauge experience, and we have a long-standing relationship with VISHAY Measurements Group in the United States.
Load cells register the deformation of a body under force through metal strain gauges wired into a full Wheatstone bridge. The cells compensate for temperature, zero shift and sensitivity — without that, the reading would follow the environment rather than the load.
Every cell is individually tested in INSPECT’s laboratories to EN 45501 and the international recommendation OIML R 60.
A cell alone does not make a scale. What decides the result is how the load is introduced into it: whether parasitic forces act on it, whether it is protected against overload, and whether the environment will destroy it before it wears out. That is the part we work through for every application, together with the weighing indicator.
